Water Cycle

from Saint Fairweather by The Catalpa View

/

lyrics

As I walk through the park
I chew ice from a styrofoam cup
And I think of all the places
That ice might have come from

I could be eating the iceberg that sunk the Titanic
Or water flooding the Estonia out in the Baltic
Or maybe water from the hull of the Mary Celeste
Abandoned in the Atlantic

I conclude it's best to let the cycle continue
And throw the half-full cup of ice toward a trashcan
Where the styrofoam turns to shrapnel
As it smashes into the outside
And the ice spreads out across the Earth
A found lost treasure of diamonds
And pearls
